Brighton’s Moonstone, the great taste of Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan food is unique just like it’s culture & is world famous for it’s variety and taste.  Moonstone, one of Brighton Restaurants, offers an amazing variety of vegetarian options as well as interesting fish & meat dishes.
Moonstone dishes are superbly cooked with wonderful spices & a combination of flavours that are a treat to the taste buds yet light to digest. All curries are available from mild to hot. Moonstone curry powder is grown & ground in Sri Lanka within the family and has been handed down through the generations. This intricate blend of spices consists of coriander, turmeric, cumin, fennel, curry leaves & rumpa. The curry powder used with meat also includes cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.

The idea for the restaurant came from the 6 months the now Lancing-based Mendis family spent living in Sri Lanka.

“Ever since Dimuthu has lived here he has been cooking Sri Lankan food at home. Friends would come around and say we should open a restaurant. “We took 6 months off to live in Sri Lanka as a family before our 2 children started school, and while we were there we decided to open our own restaurant.”
